All About All God's Babies
All God's Babies is a provider of caskets of all God’s babies. An additional feature is burial services located in the St. Patrick's #1 Cemetary at 5000 Canal Street New Orleans, LA 70119 and will provide music and song at funeral service upon request. Ministers may also be arranged or you can provide your own minister.The "Caskets for All God's Babies" Project got its start when a friend of the Sampey Family tragically lost her grandchild. The baby was still-born and the family didn't have the means to be able to bury the child. That's when Don Sampey and his Catholic Men's Prayer Group, "The Monday Night Disciples," decided to take on the task to build caskets that are free of charge for all families in need, and, for all babies who have with been abandoned.
Caskets sizes range to accommodate babies from a few weeks' old up to two years old.
The build time for each casket takes about two days, and the materials used are usually donated by local businesses. The lining of the caskets, and the outfits for the babies to be buried in, are made from wedding dresses that are donated for this purpose.
This work is done to ensure ALL babies, including those unclaimed and aborted babies, receive a proper Christian burial. None of the men in this group began as wood craftsmen.
As Don said: "I had no idea how to even spell wood-working. I really still don't! I mean it's a learning curve straight up. Over a hundred babies have been buried (to date, over 400 babies!). It's a sad thing, but then again, the good Lord put us to do something, to take care of His babies. Prayer is always present in this shop. We need prayer, support, and donations.
